It's been a crazy week, but we are doing
great. Buc is a fun place. And we are putting all that we have into the
work, and especially into turning English classes around. We have been
advertising hard, and we are going to have a big turnout. If things go
as planned, we will start teaching two tracks of classes, so some
students would sign up for Tuesdays and Saturdays, and others for a
Wednesday and later Saturday class.
So that was
one of our focuses, but we had four different things we were taking
care of last week. We had English advertising, Zone training, preparing
for a big concert project that we are taking on, as well as our normal
members and investigators to meet with.
Zone
training was great too. We were in charge of the morning part, on the
topic of baptism, and it went well. And then the sister training leaders
did a session after lunch on being a real person and how to share your
personal conversion story. Truth is, people don't trust institutions
like governments or churches in this world, and in Romania this is even
more obvious. So we can't go around talking about how we represent the
church and explain what the church believes and expect people to not be
suspicious. People trust their friends. We need to be real friends to
people, then share our personal experiences and beliefs with them. I
really want to apply this for the rest of my mission and I think it will
make a big difference.
We also did a
music/english contacting activity after the conference with the zone,
and it was really successful. I handed out a whole stack of english
cards, and also met a really cool guy from India who has lived here for
eight years and has a Romanian wife and 4-year-old daughter. He came to
church on Sunday too. He is awesome, we are excited to develop the
friendship. I can't wait to meet his family.
Also, the 8-year-old got baptized on Saturday, and it was a great service.
It was so fun helping him prepare. Teaching kids is the best. And since
he was so excited about Elder C's guitar, he got a guitar for his
birthday and is learning how to play.
It's going to be a great week!
