Well, I made it through another
transfer, and now I am in the beautiful city of Sibiu! With Elder
C, my favourite redhead companion in the mission! I love this city
already! I really feel at home here. Brasov was a pretty stunning city,
but I think I prefer Sibiu. It's smaller, quieter, and beautiful
throughout the whole city, not just in the center. I'm really glad to be
here. There are no mountains right next to the city like in Brasov, but
you can see them on the horizon.
We have a couple investigators,
but one of them is about to stay with his family in another city for the
summer. He studies dentistry here in Sibiu, and is such a cool guy! I'm
glad I got to meet him before he leaves. We also have another investigator
who I haven't met yet.
The branch is pretty interesting with lots of personality. I know I will really grow to
love them. I got my first introduction to the branch when we cleaned the
villa on Thursday. I kind of like having a villa again instead of a
chapel, interestingly enough. It feels more like home to me.
The branch isn't the biggest, but
we actually had 21 people at church on Sunday, a varied mix of members,
missionaries, investigators, and others. I also
got called to be the second counselor in the branch presidency. Elder
C and I bless the sacrament every week, and also do the branch
finances after church. Our branch president is about 25, and a
really cool guy. I can't wait to start to get to know him better.
In our missionary district, Elder
D is the district leader, training Elder Ch. Elder D is
in his last transfer and formerly an assistant to the president, so he
is pretty experienced.
Our sisters are Sora H and
Sora R. They are good committed missionaries, but also very
funny, Sora R is from Saskatoon, so I won't be the only one
celebrating Canada day this week! We have a fun district, but focused on
the work too.
Also, President Ivory is here! We
have a new mission president! This is going to be an exciting week.
Mission leadership council is on Thursday, so I will be going down to
Bucuresti and will meet him then. This is going to be an exciting week.
The only thing we know about the meeting is that we were instructed to
bring our running gear!
As a zone leader, I will also be
going on an exchange to Cluj and one to Brasov this transfer! That will
be so fun. Next week, (not this one), the plan is that I'll be going to
Brasov to work with Elder B's trainee, Elder W.
This has been an exhausting week
for me, but summer is here in Sibiu and Elder C is great. We are
trying really hard to work hard and be good examples, and to grow in all
aspects. I have already felt a lot of improvement. This is going to be
great transfer. It's going to be a lot of work, and I'm sure there will
be plently of struggles, but the Lord always rewards faithful
endurance. The scriptures testify of that principle a lot.
Thanks for reading all this! This mission is great! I wouldn't trade it for anything.
Elder Lybbert
